From Monday, September 11 to Wednesday, September 13, 2023, a workshop to develop an Action Plan for the sustainable management of the Boala water reservoir was held in Koupéla, in the meeting room of the City Hall Hotel.
The development of this Action Plan is part of the implementation of activities under the project “Support for Strengthening the Climate Resilience of Grassroots Communities in the management areas of the Nakanbé, Gourma and Liptako Water Agencies (PARCoB)”.
This project is implemented by a consortium composed of the Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL) and the Water Agencies of Nakanbé, Gourma and Liptako, and is funded by the Kingdom of Belgium through ENABEL. It aims to promote efficient and sustainable management of water resources within its intervention areas.
The Action Plan is a practical tool that will enable the Local Water Committee (CLE) to better plan its interventions and operate more effectively. Following the launch of the process on August 28, 2023, in Koupéla, and the data collection phase conducted from September 4 to 5, 2023 in the management area of the Niima Zaanbo CLE, stakeholders reconvened in accordance with the established roadmap to develop the Action Plan.
The work of this first session focused mainly on the development of a three-year, budgeted activity program. In total, 29 activities were identified as necessary for the protection of water resources. These activities were planned and budgeted under three (03) strategic axes, namely:
- Capacity building of stakeholders involved in the management of the Boala water reservoir;
- Optimization of management frameworks; and
- Improvement of the protection of the Boala water reservoir.
The total estimated cost for the implementation of these activities is one hundred nine million three hundred ninety-three thousand seven hundred (109,393,700) FCFA.
