From Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 September 2023, a workshop for the development of an Action Plan for the sustainable management of the Boala water reservoir was held in Koupéla, in the meeting room of the City Hall.
The preparation of this Action Plan is part of the implementation of activities under the project “Support for Strengthening the Climate Resilience of Grassroots Communities in the management areas of the Nakanbé, Gourma and Liptako Water Agencies (PARCoB)”.
This project is implemented by the consortium of the Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL) and the Water Agencies of Nakanbé, Gourma and Liptako, and is funded by the Kingdom of Belgium through ENABEL. It aims to promote efficient management of water resources within its area of intervention.
The Action Plan is a tool that will enable the Local Water Committee (CLE) to plan its interventions and become more operational. Following the launch of the process held on 28 August 2023 in Koupéla, and the data collection phase conducted from 04 to 05 September 2023 in the management area of the CLE Niima Zaanbo, and in accordance with the agreed roadmap, stakeholders reconvened to develop the Action Plan.
The work of this first session focused mainly on the development of a three-year, budgeted activity program. Thus, twenty-nine (29) activities were identified as necessary for the protection of water resources. These activities were planned and budgeted around three (03) strategic axes, namely:
- strengthening the capacities of stakeholders involved in the management of the Boala water reservoir;
- optimizing governance and management frameworks;
- improving the protection of the Boala water reservoir.
The estimated cost for the implementation of these activities is one hundred nine million three hundred ninety-three thousand seven hundred (109,393,700) CFA francs.
