From Monday, September 11 to Wednesday, September 13, 2023, a workshop was held in Koupéla, in the meeting room of the town hall, to develop an action plan for the sustainable management of the Boala water reservoir.
The development of this action plan is part of the implementation of the project “Support for Strengthening the Climate Resilience of Local Communities in the Management Areas of the Water Agencies of Nakanbé, Gourma, and Liptako (PARCoB).”
This project, implemented by the consortium composed of the Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL) and the Water Agencies of Nakanbé, Gourma, and Liptako, and funded by the Kingdom of Belgium through ENABEL, aims to promote efficient management of water resources within its intervention area.
The Action Plan is a tool that will enable the Local Water Committee (CLE) to plan its interventions and become more operational. Following the launch of the process held on August 28, 2023, in Koupéla, and the data collection phase carried out from September 4 to 5, 2023, within the CLE Niima Zaanbo management area — in accordance with the established roadmap — the stakeholders gathered to develop the Action Plan.
The work of this first session mainly focused on developing a three-year, budgeted program of activities. Thus, 29 activities were identified as necessary for protecting water resources. These activities were planned and budgeted under three (03) strategic axes:
- Strengthening the capacities of the actors involved in the management of the Boala water reservoir,
- Optimizing the management frameworks, and
- Improving the protection of the Boala water reservoir.
The total cost for implementing these activities is estimated at one hundred and nine million three hundred ninety-three thousand seven hundred (109,393,700) CFA francs.
